What is a Glazier?

A Glazier is a person who works with glass. They often provide residential glazing services like installing windows, doors and mirrors.

A glazier must have a number of skills to do their job correctly. Employers are looking for core skills such as patience and attention to detail.

Glass Louvres

Glass louvres are a stylish and practical window option that can help create appealing light-filled spaces. They come with a range of different blade widths, which can be adjusted to achieve just the right amount of air and light.

They also offer a high level of privacy and are available in frosted or coloured glass options for enhanced security. They can be tilted at angles that maintain the privacy of occupants without affecting the flow of fresh air.

The louvre windows are energy efficient and are tested to Australian standards. Their ability to open twice as wide as other windows types allows them to provide ventilation no matter which direction the wind is blowing.

They’re also easy to clean – just flip them out and wipe away the dirt and dust. They can be fitted with insect screens to keep out unwanted guests, which is especially useful if they’re located in bedrooms or bathrooms. Lastly, they’re a great option for people who suffer from allergies or asthma as it helps to circulate fresh air throughout your home.

Glass Doors

One of the most popular architectural features amongst Australian property owners, glass doors blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors by enriching views, improving ventilation and enhancing natural light. Moreover, they add a contemporary, modern touch to any home.

Besides adding a stunning look, glass doors are also highly functional and can help improve the energy efficiency of your building. By letting in more natural light, you can reduce your energy bills by not heating up your space as much when it gets dark.

At Glazier Brisbane, we’re experts at installing and replacing all types of glass products. From windows to shower screens, mirrors and shopfronts, we’re sure to have something that suits your needs.

Glass Repair

Glass repairs are a great way to add value to your property and improve the look of your home. Glaziers are skilled in cutting and installing glass to a wide range of shapes and sizes, as well as repairing or replacing broken and cracked glass.

When a pane of glass needs to be repaired, the first step is to remove it from its frame. Scrape away any old caulk or putty and replace it with new silicone caulk.

Next, cut a piece of glass to fit the grooves of your window. This will require precision and attention to detail, as you have to be precise with the measurements and make sure the glass is fitted securely.

Often, wood molding will need to be removed to make room for the new glass. This may require the use of a pull-type paint scraper or an old chisel. When reinstalling the molding, angle it so that it doesn’t touch the glass when you press it into place.

Glass Replacement

Glass replacement is a great way to enhance the look of your home, while also making it more energy efficient. Whether you need to replace a single broken pane of glass or a whole window, Glazier Brisbane will provide you with excellent service and a great price.

Generally, a professional glazier has completed a Certificate lll in Glass and Glazing as well as an apprenticeship through a glass company. They have also received specialist on-the-job training and a scope of work licence in Queensland.

When replacing a broken pane of glass, remove any old glazing compound that has seeped through the shattered glass. Using a putty knife, pry up the hardened compound around the frame, taking care not to damage the wood.

Once you’ve removed the compound, scrape away any shards of glass and metal glazing points. Then, apply new glazing compound to the L-shaped groove where the glass meets the frame. Be sure to test fit the new pane of glass before reinstalling the wood molding.
